The Energy in the Room Matters: My Experience as a Patient

As an intuitive guide and light connection therapist, I hold space for others during some of the most vulnerable, uncertain chapters of their lives. I guide women through emotional overwhelm, identity shifts, and deep personal transformation helping them feel seen, heard, and supported.

But recently, I found myself on the other side of the healing experience… and what I encountered confirmed what I’ve been witnessing more and more in our society:

A profound lack of human connection.

A breakdown in meaningful interaction.

A silence where communication should be.

I recently underwent kidney stone surgery, a physically painful experience, yes. But what stayed with me long after the procedure wasn’t just the discomfort in my body. It was the disconnection. The lack of communication. The absence of presence. The cold, robotic energy from some of the very people entrusted with my care. And it made me reflect deeply not just as a patient, but as someone whose work is rooted in human connection and emotional safety.

Yes, everything was efficient, clinical, and transactional but healing, true healing, is none of those things. Healing requires presence, empathy, and humanity. And in that moment, I realized how deeply we’ve normalized a system that often prioritizes process over people.

As someone highly attuned to energy, I couldn’t ignore what I was feeling. Energy doesn’t lie. You can say all the “right” things, but if your energy is rushed, dismissive, or detached… it’s felt. And when you’re already in a vulnerable state, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, that energy lands even heavier. I left that experience not only recovering from a procedure, but also processing the emotional residue of feeling unseen and unheard.

And I know I’m not alone in this.

This isn’t about blaming individuals. There are many incredible, compassionate healthcare professionals out there, people who lead with heart and intention, however, there is also a larger issue at play. Burnout, systemic pressure, overwhelm, and desensitization. When people are pushed beyond their capacity, empathy can become a casualty. But here’s the truth, even in the most structured, clinical environments… humanity should never be optional!

You may be asking, why does this matter so deeply to you? Because this experience reaffirmed something I’ve always known but now feel even more deeply in my body:

People don’t just need solutions.

They need connection.

They need to feel safe.

They need to feel acknowledged.

And most importantly… they need to feel like they matter!!

This is the foundation of the work I do. Whether I’m guiding a woman through a life transition, helping her rediscover her identity, or holding space for emotional release, I lead with presence, compassion, and deep listening. Because I know what it feels like when those things are missing.

If you’ve ever walked away from an experience, medical or otherwise, feeling dismissed, rushed, or unseen… I want you to know this:

Your experience matters!
Your voice matters!
You matter!

And if you’re in a season of transition, healing, or uncertainty, don’t settle for spaces that make you feel like a number. Seek out the ones that honor your humanity.

This chapter reminded me that healing isn’t just physical. It’s emotional, energetic, and  deeply human. And in a world that can sometimes feel rushed, disconnected, and transactional…we have the power to choose something different.

We can choose our presence.

We can choose compassion.

We can choose to truly see one another.

Because that… is where real healing begins.
